There are some things in weddings that we’re all itching to do differently than the “norm.” The difference comes to us right away when we’re at a wedding and we think to ourselves “yeah, my wedding will be different.” Hopefully, not in a judge-y way, but more in a “this doesn’t suit my fiancé and my personalities, so we’ll be doing it differently.” You’ll notice this when you’re scouring Pinterest or in meetings with vendors. You’ll find ways to inject your personalities and love story throughout the day- in the decor, in the music, in the food, etc.

One place that you probably didn’t think about (because it’s a much smaller decision than so many others) is how you can inject your personality while getting ready. It’s kind of a pivotal part of your wedding day. It sets the tone and hopefully puts you at ease and gets you excited to do the damn thing! It’s important that it’s not a time of added stress or worry, and it’s very important that you are COMFORTABLE.

Some people thrive with all that attention on them and everyone watching them get their pimples airbrushed off, but other people… not so much. Either way, you want to make sure you feel like you. To me, that very much means you need to be wearing the most comfortable, the most you, outfit.

I honestly only started thinking about something other than robes (what my bridesmaids and I wore at our wedding) after my friend’s February wedding. She gave us all onesies to wear (see a photo of that here), and it was GENIUS. Not only was that completely the bride’s personality, but we were all insanely cozy in our fleece onesies. We could sit Indian-style on the floor. We could dance or leave the hotel room we were getting ready in without worrying that someone would see our undies. We could be confident no boobs were going to pop out.

That is not the case with robes. It wasn’t a huge deal or anything on our day, but I was constantly fidgeting with my robe. I even ended up wearing some ugly pants under because that’s what I was comfortable in. They were too shiny in photos, and they just weren’t me. I would’ve been better suited to pajamas or a romper or a dress… that would’ve been more me.

Basically, I’m just encouraging you to take a second and think about it. Maybe you’re a robe fan and wear them after every shower… by all means, getchu and yo girls robes! If not, there are other options. In fact, I have eight listed for you below with shoppable links. Just make sure that every option is able to be slipped off without touching your face (either pulled down your legs or has a wide enough opening at the neck), that they’re comfortable and that they’re not see-through.
